Do you know how Google works?

The world has become too small, thanks to internet, which is considered as the most Technological Revolution in this world, and as soon as you say Internet, the first thing which comes to your mind will be Google, which is considered as the virtual owner of the internet.

I believed that 9/10 will go to Google.com, whenever you switch on your internet modem.I believe this stat can be 999/1000 also, because Google is considered as the God as the Internet. Imagine a world without any Search Engine, where people will have to remember every website's name, they required. Ooooops.. this will be a tedious process, where time consumption and user friendliness will become a question.

Search Engine reduces this effort and Google ranks number one among the all the search engines. Here we will analyze the working of Google, in a simple and effective way.

Basic Operation in Google?

The process is simple, which involves basic two steps,

i) Sending the Request - in Google, when the user enters an keyword and clicks search, then a request  here, the keyword which the user types is sent as a request)is sent to the backend/server

ii) Getting the Response -  As soon as the user enters the keyword and clicks search, the user gets the list of pages as a results( as shown in the image above), which forms the response from the backend/server, which is got according to the request sent

How Google Works - A complete Guide to the working of Google Seacrh Engine?

Let me explain the process in a simple way which helps you to understand the process in a easier way. In this section you will come across some very very important key words like spider/crawler, Googlebot, Page Rank, backlinks, Search Engine Results Page(SERP). So let me give a small definition about the keywords.

What is Spider/crawler? A spider/crawler is a software tool used by search Engines which is used to scan all the webpages based on the keyword entered by the user in their search Engine.

What is Googlebot? Googlebot is a specific crawler/spider used by the Google for their search Engine Process

What is SERP? SERP is Search Engine Results Pages, which displays the results of web pages which matches the keyword entered by the user in the Search Engine.

What are Back Links? If your website link is present in some other website, it is called as back link.

What is Page Rank? Page Rank is the score in the range of 1 to 10, where 10 is the maximum and the name is given after the co-founder of Google, Larry Page. If a website has more number of backlinks, then by this Page Rank algorithm,  that website will have a very good Page Rank. But to get a very good Page Rank, never ever unnecessarily add you website links to other sites, if the content is irrelevant.

So now let us discuss in detail about the process involves in the operation of Google.

1) Let us consider the user enters the keyword how Google works? in Google and clicks Search button.

2) Now as soon as the user clicks search button, Google's crawler/spider, Googlebot crawls their database with respect to the keyword typed by the user, here in this case the keyword is how Google works.

3) Next it will have a list of pages which has this keyword and now the most important process of indexing takes place, where the list of all the pages from googlebot is submitted to indexing, Here in indexing from the list of pages which was obtained, further crawling takes place for the links related to the keyword in these pages. This action continues from one link to another link, by searching interior links, and this action is very helpful in determining the backlinks count.

4) So next comes the final part, where Google has to display the search results to the user and most importantly this search results must be relevant enough to satisfy the user. So what Google must do is that, they must display the result in a sorted manner, where the top web links must have a very good content for the keyword.

5) Sorting of web pages involves mainly 2 process, which includes,

i) Keywords: If a website/content has used the keyword very effectively, i.e used in the Title, URL and also used frequently( but not unwantedly) in the content, then Google gives priority to that site. But to get priority from Google, don't involve in activities like keyword stuffing, where people used to repeat the keywords unnecessarily and often in their content. In crawling the keyword is check against the HTML content of the site, so Googlebot is a very good tool, where any kind of cheating will be avoided.

ii)Page Rank: This has been discussed earlier and higher the Page Rank, higher is the chance for getting your page in the top search results, which ultimately gives you more traffic to your site. So the concept of Back Links, i.e more the Quality Back Links, better the Page Rank is followed here.

Based on the above algorithm Google will display the result in the Search Engine Results Page(SERP)

Hope now you understand the basic process involved in the operation of Google.
