IPL 4 format - Tournament Draw:IPL 4 Schedule format download|New IPL format for 10 teams - no 2 Groups in IPL 4
65Total of 74 Matches in IPL 4.There won't be two groups in IPL 4 , rather the old format of 7 Home Matches and 7 Away Matches will be there, which means each franchise will play 14 games(7 Home match and 7 away Match)
IPL 4 Format
At 10:55 Pm, 9th January 2011, the news was clarified for IPL fans via Set Max, by IPL CEO Sundar Raman. Prior to this it was believed that with 10 teams, IPL 4 will follow 2 Group format, 5 per group.
But Sundar Raman, IPL CEO confirmed that there won't be two formats.Total matches in IPL 4 will be 70 + 4 = 74
1) Each team will play 14 matches
2) Each Team will play 5 Home and Away matches, against 5 teams( Which adds the count to 10)
3) Of the remaining 4 matches, with the remaining 4 teams(only 1 match with 4 teams),2 will be home and the rest will be away
4) So the league match is over with the 70th match. The top 4 teams will go for the next round, which is little bit tricky.
5) The 71st match will be played between the first and the second team of the points table, and the winner will qualify for the final( i.e the 74th and last match)
6) The 72nd match will be played between the team which was placed 3rd and 4th in the league points table. The loser of this match is eliminated(bye bye from IPL 4) and the winner will play with the loser of the 71st match.
7) So the 73rd match will be played between the loser of 71st and winner of 72nd match
8) The winner of the 73rd match will play the final, with the winner of the the 71st match.

I don't understand, why 2 matches with 5teams and 1 match with rest 4 teams.
On what bases.... Stupid format
the teams are divided into 2 groups.
every team plays 2 matches with other group teams and 1 match with the teams in the same group.
so every team plays 14 matches
bakwaas format
